The Film is about A criminal couple staking out a seedy motel discuss the various ways to kill someone. Vero has abandoned her family for an older man, Rudy, her mentor and lover. He's prepared her for her first hit alone and this is her moment.


Marc Alan Kropfl and Roberto “Tank” Gomez met in film school in 2000 and have been collaborating on creative projects ever since. In 2012 they formed Clever Bunch, and under that moniker, have written several feature films and shorts, as well as directed short films andbranded content. Theirgoal is to make films that are entertaining in a clever way.

Q: What is the basic Idea Behind the film?

Roberto “Tank” Gomez and Marc Alan Kropfl: This film was meant to give viewers a powerful glimpse into the Violent World Stories. These stories explore the intersecting lives of the criminal underworld, and Rudy & Vero were two great characters we had to capture on film.


Q: How do you handle the Pre-Production, and Post Production?

Roberto “Tank” Gomez and Marc Alan Kropfl: It helps having a directing partnership because we make each other’s ideas better. From writing, to casting, to location scouting, we collaborate on all decisions. Same when it comes to post. We have a lot of faith in each other’s opinions and creativity. And we find that having two different perspectives sometimes makes an idea even stronger.


Q: What do you do to stay calm during Production of the film?

Roberto “Tank” Gomez and Marc Alan Kropfl: Having the right people in place to help support the process. We are blessed to have worked with an amazing crew and very talented actors on this film.


Q: What sort of stories excites you?

Roberto “Tank” Gomez and Marc Alan Kropfl: We like stories involving crimes because they push the limits of human emotion. We get to peel back the layers of the plot and reveal the true nature of the characters when they face desperate situations.


Q: Do you think all the good stories have already been made into a movie?

Roberto “Tank” Gomez and Marc Alan Kropfl: No, even old stories can be told in new and innovative ways. Personal perspective can change everything in filmmaking, including the emotional and visual experience of an audience.


Q: While casting for your film you prefer to cast a well known face or any new face which fit the character?

Roberto “Tank” Gomez and Marc Alan Kropfl: Although a well-known face is the sign of a great actor, it’s more important to find the right person to portray the character. We want the audience to believe the performance and finding actors webelieve is essential to the process.


Q: What is the most enjoyable thing about Production of the film?

Roberto “Tank” Gomez and Marc Alan Kropfl: Often times we look at each other after a great take and know that we got something special. It’s in those moments the adrenaline starts flowing and we can’t wait to get into the edit bay.


Q: What is the best possible way to promote your film when you are on a tight budget?

Roberto “Tank” Gomez and Marc Alan Kropfl: Always take stills of your actors in costume. They can be used for promotional materials, social media and movie posters down the line.


Q: When your next film is coming and what is it about?

Roberto “Tank” Gomez and Marc Alan Kropfl: Our next film is called “Daisy – A Violent World Story.” It’s about a female assassin who gets the opportunity of a lifetime when introduced to a powerful crime boss. Faced with many dangerous decisions, the choices she makes will forever change her life.


Q: What advice do you want to give to the new and upcoming filmmakers?

Roberto “Tank” Gomez and Marc Alan Kropfl: Don’t hesitate on making your film. There is always going to be something in the way or a hurdle to overcome, but keep pushing forward and get it done. You are going to get better and learn something with each project, so just keep creating and strive to be innovative in your storytelling.
