Interview With Nicky Naudé

Q: What is the basic Idea Behind the film?

Nicky Naudé: First of all, making films for me is telling stories, making entertainment, and this story in particular is to make these 2 characters Roxy and Bill evolve between dream and reality, it's a bit like Alice adventures in wonderland but the Punk version.

Q: How do you handle the Pre-Production, and Post Production?

Nicky Naudé: This film in particular, I took on a lot of positions, since we shot with my cell phone. But I still have my music composer François Maigret who has contributed a lot to this film, also to the sound design, and also my other friend Acim Vasic to the digital special effects.

Q: What do you do to stay calm during Production of the film?

Nicky Naudé: We must remain calm, even if at times we doubt, for that we must remain focused, and not hesitate to have a look other than your own ...

Q: What sort of stories excites you?

Nicky Naudé: it's a question too difficult to answer, a lot of history excites me, and different styles.

Q: Do you think all the good stories have already been made into a movie?

Nicky Naudé: Today it's very difficult to do innovative things, but it's the way you tell your story that still makes the difference.

Q: While casting for your film you prefer to cast a well known face or any new face which fit the character?

Nicky Naudé: If the production doesn't impose the casting on me, I'd rather choose someone who really matches the character, than choose someone famous. I totally understand producers who want to make sure they get their money's worth, but it still often happens that certain films don't have the right cast, and as a result, the films don't work at the box office.

Q: What is the most enjoyable thing about Production of the film?

Nicky Naudé: To see the film gradually build, whether it is the choice of actors, sets, costumes, makeup, everything that will make that according to a scenario, we see as the story takes form in all aspects.

Q: What is the best possible way to promote your film when you are on a tight budget?

Nicky Naudé: Going to platforms like Filmfreeway is the best way to do festivals in order to have your film discovered around the world. And with a little luck being bought by TV channels. The short film is like a visiting card to switch to a feature film.

Q: When your next film is coming and what is it about?

Nicky Naudé: It's the sequel to "Chocolate Monsters", it's yet another new adventure of these two Roxy and Bill characters, it's still a little secret, but all I can say is that we had a lot pleasure to find them ...

Q: What advice do you want to give to the new and upcoming filmmakers?

Nicky Naudé: Not to let go, to follow through with their dreams, however crazy they may be, that the important thing is to do above all what you love in life, even if there is a price to pay.

One of the most difficult things is to build a good team, to surround yourself with the best people to get as close as possible to the film you have in mind ...
