Interview With Massimiliano Nocco
Q: What is the basic Idea Behind the film?
Massimiliano Nocco: The basic idea of the film comes from a scene that really happened in Florence in front of my eyes in an outdoor bar, an idea that remained in the drawer until the first 2020 lockdown, where I then decided to do it by doubling myself.
Q: How do you handle the Pre-Production, and Post Production?
Massimiliano Nocco: When I manage the Pre-Production I always try to imagine the Post-Production so as not to make mistakes. I care about all my collaborators and all the workers recommending me, showing them trust and affection in order to build a winning team.
Q: What do you do to stay calm during Production of the film?
Massimiliano Nocco: Calm is the virtue of the strong so I always try to feel strong and in the end I always manage to work with maximum concentration.
Q: What sort of stories excites you?
Massimiliano Nocco: I am moved by the stories that include love and memories, in fact in my films the characters are seen both as young and as adults and sometimes even as old.
Q: Do you think all the good stories have already been made into a movie?
Massimiliano Nocco: No, absolutely not! The stories are infinite like music, like the universe, like numbers. I am sure that in the future the films will be more and more beautiful, a bit like what happens with speed records, I believe that one day the human being will run a hundred meters in less than 5 seconds.
Q: While casting for your film you prefer to cast a well known face or any new face which fit the character?
Massimiliano Nocco: It would always be better to choose a face that suits the character but if the known face has an acceptable face then the known face is better.
Q: What is the most enjoyable thing about Production of the film?
Massimiliano Nocco: I believe in the final stage of editing. When I see in the monitor all the frames of the film that before shooting were flowing only in my mind, then it is a purely magical moment.
Q: What is the best possible way to promote your film when you are on a tight budget?
Massimiliano Nocco: First of all, make a good film regardless of the budget, share on social trailers, photos, news and rely on competent people.
Q: When your next film is coming and what is it about?
Massimiliano Nocco: I have just finished making 3 short films and are in the editing phase.
"Il thief of smiles" filmed in Florence of which I am also a screenwriter together with Walter Nestola who also plays the leading role, talks about the mistreatment of women.
"LA barchetta" of which I am also the screenwriter, based on a story that really happened to me. "The showdown" short film on the environment of which I am also a screenwriter together with Water Nestola who also plays one of the protagonists together with Paolo Dessì.
Q: What advice do you want to give to the new and upcoming filmmakers?
Massimiliano Nocco: The most important things for the success of a film are: "a great script, an excellent interpretation", "a great audio" and a "good photography". To succeed in the enterprise, I recommend young directors to surround themselves with competent people and to do a lot of rehearsals with the actors before starting shooting.
Then it takes a lot of calm, especially with the people around you so as not to destroy the harmony in the set between trope and cast. A great team can aspire to great results.
